Zona Pearl Harper, age 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born on March 5, 1935, she was a devoted homemaker and former factory worker who lived a life centered on faith and family.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Fenton of Platte City, Missouri; her son, Michael (Carla) Harper of Lexington, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, Sean Jarmillo, Jason Jarmillo, and Alexis Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, J.T. Harper; her parents, Wesley and Tennie Burnine; five siblings, Marie Armstrong, Annie Byrd, Cecil Burnine, Herman Burnine, and Elmer Burnine; and a grandson, Justin Martin. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, along with two cherished friends, Jean Duffer and Mary Beecham, whom she held especially dear.
Zona loved her family deeply and found joy in making crafts, playing bingo, and watching Gunsmoke. Above all, she cherished her relationship with the Lord and sought to be a light for Him each day. Her warm smile and outgoing personality drew people to her, and she formed lasting bonds with everyone she met. A resident of Heritage Place Assisted Living since September 2015, she considered the staff there part of her own family and touched the hearts of doctors, nurses, and caregivers during her hospital stays with her kindness and resilience. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
