She was born on October 22, 1962, in Newberry, SC.Early Life and EducationZenda was lovingly raised by her parents, the late Roger and Phebbie Leaks, in Chappells, SC. After graduating from Newberry High School, she continued her education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where she earned a BA degree in Government and International Studies. She later attained a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of South Carolina as well.Professional CareerUpon completing her education, Zenda embarked on a career in the fields of business and communication. She served in various capacities with the South Carolina State House, the City of Columbia, and the Department of Motor Vehicles, where she retired in 2018. She was widely recognized for her meticulous attention to detail and outstanding work ethic. She consistently held herself and others to high standards of excellence.Personal Life and Community InvolvementFollowing her retirement, Zenda cherished her time with family and friends, and enjoyed traveling, with a particularly memorable trip to Aruba. She found joy in baking cakes and cookies for her loved ones, especially her nieces and nephews. She was tough and courageous. To the family's amazement, Zenda had earned a Black Belt in karate! Zenda was deeply involved in church activities, contributing her time and energy to Scurry Spring Baptist Church in Chappells. She was active in numerous community initiatives and was always willing to help anyone in need.Family and LegacyZenda was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Grant and Ellen Hill, as well as a niece, Gevora Leaks Griggs. She is survived by five brothers: Roger Leaks (Carol) of Columbia, SC; Johnny Leaks (Sara) of Greenwood, SC; George Leaks (Joan) of Las Vegas; Chester Leaks (Glenda) of Irmo, SC; and Stanley Leaks (Carol) of Chapin, SC. She also leaves behind two sisters: Mattie Dillon (Howard) of Newberry, SC, and Phebbie Williams (Carl) of Graniteville, SC. Two very special friends: Robyn Veney, Rock Hill, SC and Jennifer Green, Columbia SC.
