Yvonne Iseman Horton, 96, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 15, 1929, in Amherst County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Woodford Cleveland Iseman and Elizabeth Ashley Iseman. She was the devoted wife of the late David W. Horton, Sr., with whom she shared 49 years of marriage.
After attending school in Amherst County, Yvonne earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree through Franklin Memorial Hospital. She worked in the operating room for more than 20 years before becoming Director of Housekeeping at Virginia Baptist Hospital, where she served faithfully for 30 years. A longtime member of Northminster Evangelical Presbyterian Church, she was known for her strong work ethic, unwavering determination, and honest nature. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Rocky,” and she proudly attended every game, play, and graduation. A self-taught cook with a generous heart, she cared deeply for those around her and quietly advocated for the underserved through efforts with Gleaning for the World and by distributing emergency kits to the homeless.
Yvonne is survived by her children, David W. Horton Jr. and his late spouse, John, of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Shannon H. Knight and her husband, Mayo, of Madison Heights, Virginia; and Bronwyen H. Harvey and her husband, Howard, of Lynchburg, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Iseman G. Knight, Austin W. Knight, Spencer B. Knight, Carrington W. Harvey, and Elizabeth-Grace Harvey; her brother, Kinckle B. Iseman; and many loving friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Zan Iseman and Woodrow Iseman, and her sisters, Drene Hawkins, Juanita Price, and Deion Taliaferro.
Her legacy of strength, honesty, hard work, and deep love for her family will live on in the many lives she touched.
