Young Kil Matkin

1949 — 2026

Canton, OH

Young Kil Matkin, affectionately known as “Kil,” passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born in Seoul, South Korea, on December 2, 1949, Kil was a loving, generous, thoughtful, and compassionate woman whose love knew no bounds. She dedicated her life to her family and to the service of others. In her chosen field of hospitality, she spent many fulfilling years as a hotel manager, where her thoughtful and compassionate nature truly shone.

Kil was a loving wife to her husband, John Matkin, whom she married on March 14, 1974. Their marriage was a genuine partnership built on mutual respect. She was a devoted mother to her children, Ricky (Jamie), Ryan (Hannah), and Mitzi (Curt), showering them with the same generous love she extended to everyone she met. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, River, Paige, and Cadence, who filled her life with laughter and happiness. Meeting new people and shopping were among her favorite pastimes, both natural expressions of her warm and giving spirit.

Kil lived by the belief that true fulfillment comes from serving others. She was a gem whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of all those she touched. She is survived by her husband John, her children and their spouses, and her beloved grandchildren.
