He was predeceased by: his parents, Art DeGroot and Marion DeGroot (Pigeon); his siblings, Baby Sally, Art and Darlene Gable (Jerry); his brothers-in-law, Ken Hermsen and Chuck Besaw; and his goddaughter Amanda Gay.

He is survived by: his wife Sandy DeGroot; his children, David DeGroot (Sue), Jay DeGroot (Julie) and Wendy DeGroot; his grandchildren, Lindsay DeGroot (Dorn), Matthew DeGroot (Kayla), Tyler Wesolowski, Shane Wesolowski (Melissa) and Madison DeGroot (Tim); his great grandchild Emmi DeGroot; his siblings, Marilyn Hermsen, Tom DeGroot (Teddy), Jim DeGroot (Jean) and Suzanne Deschane (Mark); and his in-laws, Mary Besaw, Mary DeGroot, Roger and Yvonne Gay.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals (340 S Monroe Ave, Green Bay, WI 54301, USA). A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
