Wilma Sue Kiger (Wray) Pettyjohn, affectionately known as “Chil” later in life, was born on January 19, 1940, in Germanton, North Carolina, to Raleigh Lee Kiger and Nellie Maude (Reid) Kiger. She passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 86.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wilma served as choir and congregational music director for more than six decades. She found deep fulfillment in her faith, family history and genealogy research, and a lifelong love of music. She also cherished flowers, watching basketball and baseball, cooking, and traveling whenever she could. Above all, her greatest joy was being a grandmother and great-grandmother, and she treasured every moment spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband H. Glenn Pettyjohn and her first husband, Kenneth Joe Wray, Sr.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Benjy) Faulkner; her son, Kenneth Joe Wray, Jr. (Suzanne); grandchildren Zachary, Kyndle, Kallie, Brodie Jo, and Cheynie Jo; and four beloved great-grandchildren. Her family remained the center of her heart and the source of her deepest happiness.
