Willie led a life filled with love, dedication, and hard work.Willie spent his early years growing up in several small towns across South Georgia before moving to St. Augustine in 1951. He built a successful career as a truck driver for Gulf Oil Company, where he exemplified reliability and commitment to his work. After retiring, Willie continued to work as a tour bus driver, safely moving thousands of tourist across the country.In addition to his professional achievements, Willie was a devoted family man. He was an adoring husband to his late wife, Minna Dean, and a loving father to his children. A man of deep faith he was a longtime member of McDowell Baptist Church and later Grace Community Church.In 2024, Willie moved back to Alabama to enjoy a slower pace of life and live closer to his family.Willie was preceded in death by his wife, Minna Dean Clayton, his son, Tim Clayton, and a granddaughter, Renee Allen. He is survived by sons: Willie Clayton, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Tazewell, Tn., Randy Clayton and his wife, Robbin of Jacksonville; daughters, Karen Clayton of New Brockton, Alabama, Lynda Clayton of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He cherished each moment spent with his family and took great pride in being a good provider and father.A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home with Dr. Clarence Blalock officiating.
