Willie Marvin Clayton, aged 96, of New Brockton, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at his home in the care of his loving daughter. Born in South Georgia, Willie spent his early years in several small towns before moving to St. Augustine in 1951. He built a successful career as a truck driver for Gulf Oil Company, where his reliability and steadfast commitment earned the respect of those who knew him. After retiring, he continued working as a tour bus driver, safely transporting thousands of travelers across the country.
A devoted family man, Willie was an adoring husband to his late wife, Minna Dean Clayton, and a loving father to his children. A man of deep faith, he was a longtime member of McDowell Baptist Church and later Grace Community Church. In 2024, he moved back to Alabama to enjoy a quieter pace of life and to be closer to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Minna Dean Clayton, his son Tim Clayton, and a granddaughter, Renee Allen. Willie is survived by his sons, Willie Clayton, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Tazewell, Tennessee, and Randy Clayton and his wife Robbin of Jacksonville; his daughters, Karen Clayton of New Brockton, Alabama, and Lynda Clayton of Atlanta; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He cherished every moment spent with his family and took great pride in being a good provider and father.
