84 year old, William ‘Willy’ C. Wilson, formerly of DeMotte, passed away March 15, 2026, at the Rensselaer Care Center with his loving family around him.

On February 6, 1942, Willy was born to William J. and Oma (Daugherty) Wilson, in Clinton, Tennessee. He graduated from Hammond Tech High School, class of 1961. Willy married the love of his life, Karen Wiliford, on November 19, 1963, in Hammond, Indiana. He worked in the mills, starting in Youngstown for many years, before working at US Steel in maintenance as heating and air. Willy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Son’s of the American Legion Post 440 of DeMotte, a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite of South Bend, and Shriner’s Orak Temple of Michigan City.

Willy is survived by his children: Terry (Tracie) Wilson, Ronda (James) Wilson-Carr, and 4 grandchildren: Sara Wilson, Karen Carr, Noah Wilson, and Olivia Carr.

Willy was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Karen, an infant stillborn daughter, infant son: Danny, and brother: Charles Wilson.

Per Willy’s wishes cremation will take place.

Willy will be buried next to his wife: Karen, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Elmwood Cemetery, 1413 169th St, Hammond, IN 46324.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Virgie Christian Church, 6889 W 700 N, Rensselaer, IN 47978. A Celebration of Life Service for Willy will be held at 3:30 p.m. with Pastor Bill Taylor officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
