William Mundell ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Tim Stewart Funeral Home - Lawrenceville on Mar. 16, 2026.On March 11, 2026, the world lost a man who lived with purpose, curiosity, and a deep love for the water: William "Bill" Mundell, born January 19, 1953, to Carl and Knoxie (Long) Mundell. As the second of four boys, with two sisters, Bill grew up in a lively, close-knit family in Manchester, Connecticut-one that shaped his humor, resilience, and sense of responsibility. After graduating from Manchester High School and attending Roger Williams College, Bill answered a calling larger than himself and joined the Navy as a SEABEE. Those years took him around the world, building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps service members safe. They also gave him two lifelong passions: photography and diving. Bill saw the world through a lens, both literal and figurative, and found peace and freedom underwater. When diving wasn't possible, he swam, often for hours, finding comfort in the rhythm of the pool. One of his most memorable dives was at the Georgia Aquarium in the Ocean Voyager habitat, swimming in the aquariums "Journey with Gentle Giants". Returning home, Bill worked with his father and eventually became co-owner of their commercial maintenance company. He later earned his degree from the University of Connecticut, always pushing himself to learn and grow. But the cold New England winters eventually lost their charm, and Bill moved to Monroe, Georgia, where he embraced the warmth and returned to the water he loved so much. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers David, Marvin, and Michael, nephews Frederick (Fred) Breitsprecker and Jonathan Tremblay. He leaves behind his sisters Patricia McMahon (Michael) and Elizabeth Kay Tremblay (Donald); his lifelong friend Doug Hill; and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who will miss his steady presence and dry wit. To honor Bill's love of the water, please consider a donation to Georgia Aquarium, https://www.georgiaaquarium.org/donations/ Bill lived by the Seabee motto "Can Do." He approached life with quiet determination, a generous heart, and a spirit that never stopped exploring. Bravo Zulu, Bill. Job well done.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
