William "Mark" Weaver

William "Mark" Weaver

August 11, 1970 March 11, 2026

Columbia, SC

William Mark Weaver of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 11, 2026, at the age of 55. A graduate of Vanderbilt University Law School, Mark devoted much of his life to working with young adults at organizations including Winthrop University, AmeriCorps, and most recently Newberry Alternative School. He possessed a remarkable gift for connecting with people, especially young people, and believed deeply in helping them discover their potential. A gifted teacher and trusted mentor, he left a lasting impact through the lessons, wisdom, and confidence he instilled in countless lives.

To his family, Mark was the steady center of their lives and the calm in every storm. He loved deeply and faithfully, and nothing mattered more to him than the people he cherished. He was a devoted husband and an extraordinary father who poured his heart into his children, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Mark is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Stacy Weaver; his children, Shay Friend (Mike Friend), Macy Weaver, and Gray Weaver; and his beloved granddaughters, Ari Reid Friend and Ivy Friend. He was preceded in death by his son, Reid Huffman, whom he loved deeply and whose memory he carried with him always. The thought that they are now reunited brings comfort to those who loved them both.

Mark will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and the quiet but powerful way he invested in the lives of others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so dearly and in the many people whose lives were changed because he cared.
