William Thomas Davis

June 10, 1935 March 11, 2026

Dagsboro, DE

William Thomas Davis, 90, of Dagsboro, Delaware, passed away at home on March 11, 2026. Born on June 10, 1935, at home in Georgetown, Delaware, to the late Arthur P. Davis and Anna Mae (Rash) Davis, Tom was one of eight children and grew up in Georgetown. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1953, where he was a proud Golden Knight and played baseball. He then served in the United States Army in Germany, a time he remembered with pride as a U.S. veteran.

For more than 50 years, Tom worked at the Arrow Safety Device Company in Georgetown, advancing from Traffic Manager to President. After retirement, he continued working in security for Resort Patrol and then spent nearly a decade as a security guard for the Sussex County Council at the Administrative Building in Georgetown. Well into his eighties, he volunteered each summer as dugout security for the Senior League Softball World Series in Roxana, Delaware. He remained an avid baseball player throughout his life, pitching for teams including Arrow Safety Device and the Gators, and happily passed his love of the game to his granddaughters.

Tom cherished horses, especially his beloved Challenger, and enjoyed riding with family and friends, barrel racing, rodeo events, and riding in local parades. An avid hunter, gun enthusiast, fisherman, and crabber, he also found joy in watching NASCAR, particularly his favorite driver Bill Elliott, cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, enjoying old westerns, reading western books, and listening to classic country music.

Above all, Tom was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who consistently placed the needs of others before his own. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Carol L. Davis; his brother Robert (Grace); his sons William “Chris” Davis and John Walter, Jr. (Vickie); his daughters Cindy L. Blades (JR) and Tanya L. Marvel (Brian); 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Chuck Davis and Kip Davis, and his siblings Norman, Paul, John Sr., Arthur “Buck,” Dorothy King, and James.
