William Scott Keeton
November 13, 1947— March 8, 2026
Phoenix, AZ
William Scott Keeton, 78, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on November 13, 1947, in Van Buren, Arkansas, to John and Betsy Keeton, Bill grew up with a passion for sports. He attended Van Buren High School, where he lettered in multiple sports and was later inducted into the school’s Hall of Honor, before continuing his education at Arkansas Tech University. After serving in the National Guard, he built a successful career in the insurance industry, eventually founding his own agency in Phoenix, where he and his family lived for nearly fifty years.
Bill’s greatest joys centered on his family and his deep love of soccer. He coached his youngest son’s team to a state championship and remained closely involved when that team later won a national title. He followed his grandchildren’s sports and activities with the same enthusiasm. Though he and his wife Sharon enjoyed traveling and spent part of every summer in Maui, his favorite trips were to Europe to watch premier league soccer matches. A man of strong faith and quiet compassion, Bill served as Assistant Director of Organizing for a large labor union, volunteered extensively, and worked as a Stephen Minister, offering emotional support to those in need. His most profound impact, however, was felt by his own family, whom he supported without hesitation during difficult times.
He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Sharon; his children, Ryan (Lauren), Tracy (Barry) Barrett, and Tim, who preceded him in death; his beloved grandchildren, Tyler, Dillon, Chase, Kellan, and Violet; and his sisters, Mary (Mike) Gray and Paula Redding, along with their families. Bill was known for his teasing humor that revealed the depth of his affection, and he formed many deep and lasting friendships throughout his life. Those who knew him will always remember his generous spirit, his unwavering faith, and the way he made everyone around him feel loved.
