William "Bill" Rutledge Fuller, Jr.
September 28, 1936— March 7, 2026
Plainville, MA
William “Bill” Rutledge Fuller, Jr., of Plainville, Massachusetts, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Walpole, Massachusetts, at the age of 89. Born on September 28, 1936, in Blaine, Maine, to William Rutledge Fuller, Sr., and Dorothy Grace (Thomas) Fuller, Bill was one of five brothers. He played trumpet in high school, participated in youth basketball through his church league, and served as an altar boy. He graduated from North Attleboro High School with the class of 1955.
Bill and his brothers worked for many years at their parents’ restaurant, Wally’s, on Route 1 in Plainville. In 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann Kell, and together they shared 68 years of marriage and raised five children. Deeply involved in the Grace Episcopal Church, they enjoyed family trips to Bill’s parents’ home in Maine and lived in several states, including Illinois, Tennessee, and Florida, before settling in North Attleboro and later Plainville.
A veteran of the United States Army and Army Reserves, Bill earned a certificate in professional engineering and an associate’s degree by attending night school at Northeastern University. He worked for many years at The Foxboro Company, where he also played in the company softball league, and later held positions at General Electric, Omni Controls, and Square D in electrical engineering sales and measurement. He was a Master Mason and a certified Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret, 32°, in the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of Massachusetts. As president of the North Attleboro Jaycees from 1965 to 1966, he helped build the ski slope at World War I Memorial Park and Zoo and maintained the Angle Tree Stone Memorial.
Humble, kind, bright, and loving, Bill found joy in reading, fishing, golf, and camping at Scusset Beach. He spent many years traveling and camping with the Jolly Foxes and the Foxes Den, where he formed lifelong friendships. He loved taking his family in their RV to Disney’s Fort Wilderness campground, later making the trips with Barbara alone. Above all, Bill cherished his family. He delighted in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, spending hours observing them play, and faithfully attending their games, meets, and graduations. His wife Barbara and their family were the center of his world.
Bill is survived by his wife Barbara; children William R. Fuller III, Pamela Fuller Gauvin, Karen Baker and her husband Jeff, and Kevin Fuller; grandchildren Sean Fuller, Cassandra Columbo, Kayla Gauvin, Jason Fuller, April Fuller Liuzzi, Mackenzie Acevedo and her husband Johnny, Benjamin Baker, Megan Travers and her husband Erik, Ted Baker, and Zachary Fuller; brothers Lawrence Fuller and his wife Rita, Richard Fuller and his wife Linda, and David Fuller Sr. and his wife Claudia; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Fuller, son Scott Fuller, nephew Chris Fuller, grandson Shane Gauvin, and granddaughter Amanda Oyola.
