William Robert “Bill” Wootten

A celebration of life memorial service for longtime Lamar resident, William Robert Wootten, affectionately known to his family and friends as Bill, will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Lamar United Methodist Church with Pastor Kristina Walker officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Bill was born on June 7, 1937 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to John B. and Marion (Bassett) Wootten and passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 4, 2026 at the age of 88.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack and Tom Wootten and sister Janice Bond.

Bill is survived by his wife, Kathy Wootten of the family home in Lamar, children Barbara (Doug) Hatton of Pueblo West, CO, William R. “Buddy” Wootten, Jr. of Lamar, CO and Richard (Tracy) Wootten of Lakewood, CO and grandchildren Jennifer (Braden) Hurd of Kansas City, MO, Chris Hatton of Colorado Springs, CO, Dylan Nickelson of Lakewood, CO, Will Wootten of Hayes, KS, Katie Wootten of Mountain View, CA and Jayme Wootten of Delta, CO. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Catherine and Eleanor Wootten and brother-in-law Myron Bond as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice, Southeast Colorado Cancer Initiative and/or local charity of choice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
