William Richard Nolan
January 1, 1951— March 31, 2026
Sterling Heights, MI
William Richard Nolan, of Michigan, passed away in March 2026 at the age of 75. Born in January 1951 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late William and Eleanore Nolan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Joann and Nancy, and his brother-in-law Wiley McCoy.
William is survived by his beloved wife Diane, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. He was the proud father of Carrie and Billy (Sara), a devoted grandfather to Jameson and Stella, and held a special place in his heart for the family’s grand-dog Lucy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Mike, nieces Erin (Andy) and Nolan, nephew Kevin (Sarah), and cherished great-nieces and nephew Riley, Will, Giada, and Fiona.
He loved spending time with his family in Cedarville, Michigan, where they vacationed for more than 45 years. Those trips were filled with fishing, visits to the Soo Locks, time on Mackinac Island, and enjoying the water and the peaceful pace of life the area offered. At home, William enjoyed watching the History Channel and had a keen interest in wooden boats. A devoted Detroit sports fan, he followed the Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings. In his younger years he played football, hockey, and baseball, and he was proud to have played on the American Airlines hockey team, including once facing hockey legend Gordie Howe.
Above all, William treasured time spent with his family, and his greatest joy was being with his beloved grandchildren.
