William Raymond "Bill" Carlos Jr.

William Raymond Carlos, Jr., 65, of Des Moines, passed away on March 14, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with kidney failure and heart disease.

Born on December 16, 1960, in Des Moines to William (Bill Sr.) and Audrey Carlos, Bill grew up in Norwoodville and graduated from Saydel High School in 1979. He carried a lifelong passion for automobiles, finding joy in auto racing, classic cars, and everything connected to the automotive world. A devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, he collected memorabilia from the team throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember his big laugh, playful spirit, and the way he brightened any room with a joke and a smile.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Shonna Rouse, Stephanee Zettler, Stacee Carlos, and Shellee Carlos; his sisters, Judy Carlos Sharpe and Diana Carlos-Pirillo; five grandchildren; his devoted friend Ann Van Zandt; and his beloved fur babies. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Sr., his mother, Audrey, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and his cherished dog, Sassy.
