William Patrick Rountree

William Patrick Rountree of Hastings, Michigan, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on September 5, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he was the son of William Frederick and Nancy Jean (McPherson) Rountree.

William attended Hastings High School, where he played football. He held a deep appreciation for the outdoors and spent many happy hours fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles, remained a loyal Detroit Lions fan, and enjoyed watching classic Western movies in his quieter moments. He took genuine pride in his work as a blacksmith at Charlton Park and always held a special place in his heart for family pets.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Laura McPherson; his father, William Rountree; his beloved daughter, Nicole Elaine Dodd, lovingly known as “Daddy’s little girl”; and his niece, Kristen Miller.

William is survived by his mother, Nancy Edwards; his sons, William Rountree and Gary Rountree; his sister, Karrie (Rountree) Miller; his nieces, Melissa, Jackie, Caitlin, and Rebecca; aunt Reta Leinaar; and uncle Rudy McPherson. He will be remembered for his love of family, friends, the outdoors, and the simple joys of life.
