William P. Lage
July 18, 1959— March 7, 2026
Grovetown, GA
William P. Lage, known to all as Bill, passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 66 in Grovetown, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 18, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa, he had made Grovetown his home since 1988. On June 14, 1986, he married Teresa Gordon, who survives him.
A man of few words, Bill let his actions speak for him. Known for his remarkable physical strength and even greater strength of character, he quietly supported and cared for those around him with unwavering determination. After many years of dedicated service, he retired from DSM Chemicals. He was also a proud member of The Single Action Shooting Society, where he formed many lasting friendships. Bill possessed a natural talent for woodworking and could fix or build nearly anything. He approached every task with pride and integrity, always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends, or neighbors.
He found joy in simple pleasures, cheering for the Atlanta Braves, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the University of Kansas. One of his greatest delights was watching his son and grandchildren play baseball. He also treasured his motorcycle rides and the camaraderie they brought. Above all, his children and grandchildren were the center of his world. He cherished every moment spent with them and found constant companionship in his beloved dog, Lucy.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Pitts; his parents, Dudley Albert and Betty Jean (Engbrigtson) Lage; and his sister, Catherine Kafer. He is survived by his wife, Teresa; two children, William Patrick Lage Jr. (BJ) of Augusta, Georgia, and Stephanie Williams and her husband, Brian, of Dearing, Georgia; four grandchildren, Jacob Hannum, Graham Williams, Corbin Williams, and Liam Pitts; one sister, Connie Diehl and her husband, Jim, of Shawnee, Kansas; his brother, Tom Lage and his wife, Marcia, of Kansas City, Missouri; his brother-in-law, Kerry Kafer of Orlando, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
