Boise, ID
William P. Blessing, known to all as Bill, was born on October 2, 1943, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and passed away in Boise, Idaho, on March 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Son of W. Phillip Blessing and Norma Crowley Blessing, he is survived by his siblings Linda Koep (Court) and Robert Blessing (Lori dec.), all of Coeur d’Alene. A proud graduate of IHM High School, Bill earned bachelor’s degrees from Idaho State University and Eastern Washington University.
He and his wife Dian Dawson Blessing raised three children: Chad (Marta) Blessing of Boise, Todd Blessing of Anchorage, Alaska, and Brooke A. Blessing of Boise. Bill cherished his six grandchildren—Avery and Millie, children of Chad and Rondee; Aidan (Kylie) and Kaiya, children of Todd and Brooke Beardsley Blessing; and Andrew Castillo (Brianna) and Alyssa Helmandollar, children of Brooke—as well as his great-grandson Mateo, son of Captain Andrew and Brianna.
Bill served with distinction in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1972, attaining the rank of Captain and earning a Bronze Star. His professional life included roles as Vice President of Marketing at Bunker Hill Mining Company, stockbroker with Dean Witter, financial analyst for the State of Idaho, and with the SEC in Seattle. He retired from the State of Idaho Department of Finance.
Those who knew him remember his passion for sharing his own version of history, his dedication as an avid fisherman, and the joy he found in every Seattle Seahawks victory. His friends and family will always smile when recalling his life and spirit.
