William N. "Bill" Sawmiller

William N. "Bill" Sawmiller

Wapakoneta, OH

William N. “Bill” Sawmiller, 47, of Wapakoneta, passed away on March 14, 2026, at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Born on January 8, 1979, in St. Marys, he was the son of Lynn E. and Cynthia R. (Dietz) Sawmiller, who survive in St. Marys.

Bill was a devoted father to Keegan W. and Lauren Sawmiller, Alivia M. Sawmiller, and Kayla L. Sawmiller, and a loving grandfather to his two granddaughters, Harlow and Haelynn. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniel and Samantha Sawmiller of Hilliard, Jacob and Ali Sawmiller of Convoy, and Sarah Kramer of St. Marys; six nieces and nephews, Tyler, Riley, Cameron, Katie, Luke, and Myla; seven aunts and uncles; many cousins; and his cherished King Charles Cavalier, Copper.

A 1997 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, Bill worked at Plastipak before becoming office manager at RRR in Wapakoneta for more than a decade. Known for his expertise in both the mechanical and customer-service sides of the business, he spent the past year learning Spanish to better connect with his coworkers. Football was a lifelong passion; he played midget and high school football in St. Marys and coached the St. Marys Stallions and All-Star midget teams for 15 years. A founding member of the St. Marys Cowbell Mafia, he was deeply involved in its fundraisers and community efforts, and he faithfully cheered for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

Bill inherited a love of cars from his father. At 15 he rebuilt the engine of a 1969 Camaro, and together they later completed a 1957 Chevy whose paint work earned awards at car shows. He enjoyed fishing trips with friends to Canada and other destinations, later passing that joy to his children. Above all, family was the center of Bill’s world. He was the steady presence who showed up for every game, recital, and milestone, and he cherished his time on the floor playing with his granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and three uncles.
