January 12, 1947— March 4, 2026
Auburn Hills, MI
William Neil Davis, age 79, passed away on March 4, 2026. Born on January 12, 1947, in Detroit to the late William S. Davis and Annis Virginia (Cotter) Davis, Bill graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1966. He proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving stateside with honor during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1970. A devoted veteran, he carried that same sense of duty and camaraderie with him throughout his life.
In 1973, Bill met Mary Ann Rehe on a blind date, beginning a love that would last a lifetime. They married on September 27, 1974, at the National Shrine of the Little Flower in Royal Oak. The couple made their home in Ferndale for 26 years before moving to Auburn Hills in 2000. Bill began his career in 1970 at Consumers Power, later known as Consumers Energy, where he was a proud member of the Utility Workers Union of America. After transferring to Pontiac in 1986, he continued his service with Michigan State Utility Workers Union Local 105 until his retirement after 32 years. He later found joy working with Performance Driven Workforce, testing and driving new vehicles, a role that perfectly suited his lifelong passion for cars, especially classics. He also cherished time outdoors, golfing, fishing, riding his John Deere mower, and tending to his yard.
A longtime member of the American Legion, Bill first belonged to the Berkley Post and, since 2000, was an active member of American Legion Post #143 Hill-Gazette in Auburn Hills, where he had served as Sergeant at Arms. Above all, he treasured his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann Davis; loving daughter, Virginia “Ginny” (Wayne) Pennington; cherished grandchildren, Lydia (Joe) Pearcy, Sabrina Pennington, and Will Pennington; proud great-grandchildren, Freya and Ronin Pearcy; and dear siblings, Dennis “Denny” (Bernadette) Davis and Valinda (Bob) Rocheleau.
