William “Bill” Mauseth, age 68 of LeGrand, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
William Lee Mauseth was born on May 31, 1957, the son of Robert and Inez Mauseth. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in the Class of 1975. Bill enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country from 1977 to 1980 as active duty, and until 1982 in the naval reserve.
Bill was united in marriage with Cheryl Hilleman. From this union, were two sons: Bradley and Brett. The couple later divorced.
Bill worked at the Iowa Veterans Home for several years as a boiler tech. He most recently worked at Thomas L. Cardella & Associates (TLC) as a call center representative.
Bill’s passion was sports, whether being an umpire, attending games or watching on TV. He was an umpire for softball and baseball in Marshalltown, both at the Sixth Street Softball Complex and for high school games. Bill was an Iowa Hawkeye and LA Dodgers fan. He enjoyed attending football and basketball games in Iowa City, and even made it to Los Angeles to see the Dodgers win a game!
In death, Bill is reunited with his parents: Robert Mauseth and Inez (Russell) Gaugh; brothers: Robert and Norman Mauseth; and sisters: Fayetta Sims and Juanita Hedberg. Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Brad (Sarah) Mauseth of Marshalltown and Brett Mauseth of LeGrand; grandchildren: Josh (Trinity) Mauseth, Jade Mauseth, and Tori Mauseth; and great-grandsons, Mason and Jaxson. He is also survived by his siblings: Karen (David) Hackett, Ella (Joseph) Pagan, and Donna (Charles) Lester; and his beloved pup, Sally.
Per Bill’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be directed to the family for later designation.
