March 7, 1942— March 10, 2026
New Baltimore, MI
William John Weinmann, born March 7, 1942, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
The beloved son of William and Anna Weinmann and brother to Heide Rees, Bill built a life defined by devotion to his family, his work, and his community. He was the cherished husband of 61 years to Barbara (Douglas), with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, adventure, and unwavering love.
Bill was the proud father of six children—Cynthia (Michael) Kononovich, Michael (Deborah) Weinmann, Jeffrey (Kris) Weinmann, Jacqueline Weinmann, Jennifer (Jason) McBrien, and Joseph Weinmann—and grandfather to Annelise, Katrina, Justin, Anthony, Zachary, Henry, Erin, and Elizabeth. His family was his greatest joy, and he delighted in watching his children and grandchildren grow. Over the years, he and Barbara were foster parents to dozens of children.
For 35 years, Bill dedicated his talents to General Motors, where he was respected for his work ethic and sound decision-making. After retiring, he embraced a new chapter with Findlay Industries, traveling the world and making business decisions from his hot tub. A passionate amateur radio operator known by his call sign N8HZL, he was an active member of the Macomb County Emergency Management community, reflecting his deep desire to help others. Bill found particular joy at Camp Weinmann, where he could often be found swimming, “playing lumberjack,” or combing the land with his metal detector. Whether at the cabin, on a road trip, or a cruise, he loved collecting memories that he preserved through countless slide photographs.
