William “Jerry” Mayo

November 27, 1947 March 14, 2026

Union City, GA

William Jerry Mayo, known affectionately as Jerry to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at Southwest Christian Care in Union City. Born on November 27, 1947, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was one of eight children born to the late Lenwood Mayo and the late Maebell Carter Mayo. A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Jerry lived with a generosity and creativity that reflected his deep faith. His sharp intellect and passion for innovation led to several patents, while his many entrepreneurial pursuits showcased his remarkable versatility as a true jack of all trades.

Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and an adored grandfather whose happiest moments were spent surrounded by his grandchildren. Hardworking to his core, he never shied away from a challenge, and his unparalleled work ethic served as an inspiration to all who knew him. Jerry found great joy in the outdoors, particularly in the mountains, fishing, camping, and water skiing, which reflected his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures and his ability to find peace and beauty in nature.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Elizabeth Arnold, and his brothers Joey Mayo, Bobby Mayo, and Charles Mayo. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra L. Mayo; his son, Michael Jerry Mayo (Jennifer); his brother, Tommy Mayo; his sisters, Linda Davis and Connie Eanes; and his grandchildren, Caleb Michael Mayo (Winter Grace) and Gabriel Michael Mayo.
