Following his military service, he worked as a coal miner and later was employed by the Shelby County Golf Course, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.William had a deep appreciation for golf and enjoyed spending time on the course whenever he could. Golf brought him relaxation and joy, and it was one of his favorite pastimes.William was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Thornton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; four sisters, Gwendolyn Jamison of Birmingham, Alabama, Brenda Sims of Peoria, Illinois, Sharon Watford of Birmingham, Alabama, and Sheila Williams of Birmingham, Alabama; one granddaughter, Cierra Wright and three great-grandchildren, Lyric, Kamari and Kensely Hudson.William was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Margaret Prechett and two brothers Bernard and Fredrick Jemison.William's life and legacy will be cherished by his family and friends.The ministry of comfort has been entrusted to Walker Funeral Service & Chapel.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
