WILLIAM JAMES "Jim" SPAFFORD SR

William James “Jim” Spafford Sr. was born on July 13, 1943, in Los Angeles, California, to Percy and Opal (Shores) Spafford. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Weeks, on February 14, 1961. In May of 1972 they moved to Oklahoma, where they made their home and raised their family.

Jim served as Porum Police Chief for more than twenty years before joining the Warner Police Department, from which he retired in the late 1990s. He found great pleasure in fishing, woodworking, tending his lawn, and caring for his plants and flowers. He loved sharing stories with others and spending quiet time with family, especially cherishing moments with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his son, Jimmy Spafford Jr. and wife Alice of Porum; daughters Kelly Bivens and husband Ritchie of Muskogee, and Tammy Spafford of Porum; bonus daughter Christia Spafford of Muskogee; his sister Jeannie Reynoso and husband Cheppy of North Fork, California; and brother-in-law Hershel Weeks of Philomath, Oregon. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Opal Spafford; his wife, Charlotte Spafford; his daughter, Terry Girty; sisters Betty and Evelyn; and brothers Dick and Gail.
