William J. Asid, 96, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at The Willows in Woodbridge. Born in New Haven on January 27, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Asmar Asid. William grew up in West Haven, graduated from West Haven High School in 1948, and went on to serve his country as a paratrooper in the United States Army’s 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team during the Korean Conflict, making two combat jumps. After his military service, he earned an associate’s degree in marketing from Quinnipiac University.
William worked as a market manager for Southern New England Telephone for more than 25 years and later at Hallock’s Appliance until his retirement at age 82 in 2012. He proudly called himself a “Rock Rat,” often taking drives to Savin Rock and enjoying fishing in West Haven. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he loved unconditionally.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl (Joseph) Brigante and Michael Asid (Linda Pompa), his grandchildren, Matthew (Stefanie) Brigante and Melissa (Russell) Sousa, and his sister, Mary Jean DelVasto. William was predeceased by his brothers, Edward and Philip Asid.
