William Caswell ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Raymond Funeral Service PA - La Plata on Mar. 10, 2026.William Henry "Bill" Caswell, 78, of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata.Born on February 19, 1948, in Darby, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Earl Eugene Caswell Jr. and the late Mary McGowan Caswell. Bill attended Haverford High School where he met his high school sweetheart Jacqueline R. Casanova. They were married on May 9th, 1970. Bill went on to serve in the United States Air Force from 1971 until 1977, when he was Honorably Discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After his military service ended, the couple settled in Waldorf, MD and he began working for the Department of Defense. He worked as a Computer Programmer for Defense Mapping Agency (now National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency) for many years before retiring as a Supervisory Integration Engineer. He then worked as a contractor for McClendon Corp. for several years as a Supervisory Infrastructure Engineer.After fully retiring, Bill joined the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member of EMS 3. Bill loved volunteering and serving his community as a driver and EMT. For many years he earned the titles of Top Driver and Top Runner, riding so much that no one could come close to his number of calls. He was awarded both The EMS 3 Rookie of the Year Award and The EMS 3 Squad Person of the Year Award. During his time at WVFD EMS 3, he held many positions such as Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, Engineer, and member of the Board of Directors. For the past 10 years he also held the position of Department Treasurer, which he was still holding at the time of his death. He was a Life Member of both The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and The Disabled American Veterans Waldorf PostIn his free time, Bill was an avid Washington Capitals and Washington Commanders fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his 3 grandchildren and many fur babies.In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jackie Caswell and his brother Earl Eugene Caswell III.Bill is survived by his daughters Rebecca Lenharr (Paul) of Lusby, MD and Elizabeth Kidder (Aaron) of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren Tripp Lenharr, Braden Lenharr, and Taryn Kidder; and his cat Rocky.Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 10am until the time of the Memorial Service at 11am at the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department Station 3, 3245 Old Washington Road, Waldorf, MD 20602.
