William Hampton “Bill” Schuller, Sr., 89, of Frederick County, Virginia, died peacefully at his residence on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Born on June 27, 1936, in Winchester, Virginia, Bill was the son of the late Charles William Schuller and Mary Virginia Linaburg Schuller. He graduated from James Wood High School in 1956 and married R. Genevieve “Jenny” Schuller on December 26 of that same year in Hagerstown, Maryland. The couple shared 63 devoted years together until her passing on December 6, 2020.
For more than four decades, Bill worked as Foreman of the Road and Grounds Crew at FEMA’s Mount Weather facility, retiring in 1999. He also served for nine years in the Army National Guard. A lifelong resident of the area, he remained actively involved in his community as a member of the First United Methodist Church and as a Life Member, past president, and past board member of Greenwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue. He was also a life member and past president of the Winchester-Frederick County C.B. Radio Club, a member of Eagles Aerie 824 and American Legion Post 41, and a former member of the Winchester Moose Lodge 1367.
Bill is survived by his son, William H. “Junior” Schuller, Jr. (Beverley) of Frederick County; his daughter, Phyllis S. Russell of Winchester; four grandchildren, John William Boyd, Mary Ruth Boyd, Becky Anne Schuller, and William Hampton Schuller, III; eight great-grandchildren, Chloe Boyd, Wyatt Schuller, Huntleigh Schuller, Cole Moore, Levi Moore, Caleb Whetzel, Carmen Reed, and Clayton Tomek; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jenny, and one sister.
