FISSEL III, 80, of Hanover, PA passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at The Gardens at Gettysburg. He was the husband of Joanne L. (Miller) Fissel; together they shared 56 years of marriage.Bill was born March 14, 1946, in Hanover, the son of the late William H. Fissel Jr. and Delores B. (Rabenstine) Fissel.Bill graduated from South Western High School in 1964 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965. He proudly served his country in Vietnam in 1967–1968 with the Mobile Riverine Unit. Bill was a Life Member of the VFW Post 2506, Hanover, PA where he served as Post Commander 1995–1997 and All American Commander 1995–1996. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 14, Hanover, PA and a Life Member of the Parkville Fire Company where he served in various capacities as a volunteer.In addition to his wife Joanne, Bill is survived by his two children, a son William Henry Fissel IV and his wife Beth of York; and a daughter Stacey Ann Fissel of Hanover; 2 grandchildren, Alexis Nichole Fissel of Hanover and Jocelyn Elizabeth Fissel of York and 1 great-granddaughter, Abigail Liberty Emig of Hanover.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dawn Miller, and nephew David Miller Jr.Bill is survived by a sister, Wonda Sue Wentz and her husband Ray of Hanover; Brother-in-Law David Miller and numerous nephews.A service to celebrate the life of Bill will be held at 12pm on Saturday, March 21st, 2026 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will also be on Saturday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard with burial in the Hampton Union Cemetery.
