William Glenwood Clowdis Sr., 96, of Red House, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2025, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Peggy Booth Clowdis.

Born in Charlotte County, Virginia, on January 2, 1930, he was the son of the late Ethel Ellyson Clowdis and Frank M. Clowdis. A lifelong man of faith, William was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and participated actively in outreach ministries. He was also a dedicated member of the Gideons. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. In his professional life, he served as Vice President of Taylor Brothers, worked in sales at Campbell Payne, and thoughtfully managed his family farm in Red House.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; three children, Dr. William Glen Clowdis Jr. of Red House, Dale Clowdis of New York, and Candace Clowdis of Red House; seven grandchildren, Christopher J. Clowdis, Jacqueline M. Clowdis and her husband Alex Ventura, Jessica A. Clowdis, Rachel A. Clowdis and her fiancé Gregory Gorman, Angelica C. Negrette and her husband Michael, William G. Clowdis III, and Bridgett A. Clowdis; one great-granddaughter, Leilana A. Clowdis-Ventura; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Mateo Negrete; two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Clowdis and Ned Clowdis; and four sisters, Nancy Carol Mitchell, Marie Harper, Beth Johnson, and Ann Crawley.
