William Gilbert Winkler

1945 — 2026

Wynne, AR

William Gilbert Winkler, 80, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on May 25, 1945, in Perryville, Missouri, Bill lived a life defined by deep faith, faithful service, and genuine love for others.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bill found his greatest joy in his family and his relationship with Christ. He was a faithful member of Wynne Baptist Church for more than 40 years, where he served the Lord and encouraged others in their Christian walk. He saw his purpose on earth as sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met.

Bill worked for 27 years at Halstead Industries, known as a dedicated and hardworking employee. For 25 years he served as a respected Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America and as Lodge Advisor of the Hi'LO HA CHY' A-LA Lodge 413 in the Order of the Arrow, becoming only the second person ever inducted into the Lodge Hall of Fame. He was also an active member of Gideons International, rarely seen without Bibles to give away. He faithfully distributed them to those who were grieving and often purchased Bibles in memory of loved ones. Bill learned Spanish so he could expand his ministry to the Hispanic community and served in a Hispanic prison ministry, bringing the message of hope and salvation to those who needed it most.

He was known for his warm hospitality and generosity, often sharing the sourdough bread and homemade biscuits he loved to bake. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Helen; his children, Mandy (Christopher) Trickey, David (Melanie) Winkler, and Allen (Stacey) Winkler; his grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Owen Winkler, Braiden Trickey, and Brady Swaite; and his great-grandchildren, Virginia Ann and Addilynn Piper. He is also survived by his brother Roger (Judy) Winkler, his sister Margie Goodwin, his brother Tom Winkler, and his brother-in-law Bobby Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Herman and Bernetta Juanita Winkler, and by his sister, Dorothy Taylor.

His family and friends mourn his passing while rejoicing that he is now in the presence of the Savior he served so faithfully. His legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to sharing the Gospel will continue through all who knew and loved him.
