William Fred Vanlandingham

William Fred Vanlandingham, age 91, of Vardaman, Mississippi, passed away at his home on March 9, 2026. Born on November 9, 1934, in Vardaman to Juit Lee and Monnie Mae Vanlandingham, Fred lived a life marked by quiet strength and steady devotion.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he served his country with bravery and commitment that remained a defining part of his character. For many years he worked as an auto mechanic, finding joy in repairing and tinkering with vehicles. A simple man at heart, Fred cherished time spent gardening and working around his homestead. He also enjoyed researching topics on his computer and staying informed about current events. Above all, he dearly loved his pets.

He is survived by his son, Richard (Angela) Vanlandingham of Cordova, Tennessee; grandchildren Tyson (Melanie) Vanlandingham and Taylor Vanlandingham; great-grandchildren Amara Vanlandingham and Noah Vanlandingham; and his cherished siblings, sisters Dorothy Murff, Joyce Mayhugh, and Betty Lee, and brother Charles Vanlandingham. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Vanlandingham; his parents, Juit Lee and Monnie Mae Vanlandingham; and two brothers, James Vanlandingham and Jerry Vanlandingham.
