July 18, 1941— March 9, 2026
Grand Rapids, MI
Bill passed away peacefully early in the morning of March 9, 2026, at the age of 84 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born in Aurora, Illinois on July 18, 1941, as the youngest of three children, he graduated from West Aurora High School, where he played trombone in the marching band, and later from Aurora College with a degree in accounting. He served six years in the US Navy, two years on active duty and four in the reserves. Bill worked for many years as a cost accountant at Barber-Greene Company in Aurora, often walking to work and stopping at his parents’ house on the way home. He later worked at Tyndale House Publishers in Wheaton, Illinois, until his retirement, where he cherished seeing his daughter Cathy each day at the office.
A devoted Christian, Bill lived his life in service to the Lord and to anyone who needed help. For more than 60 years he was an active member of the Aurora Advent Christian Church, singing in the choir, serving on the church board and the AC General Conference board, and assisting with countless other church activities and needs. He maintained an active lifestyle, enjoying bowling, golf, tennis, and long walks. He took great pleasure in repairing cars, mowing lawns, attending parades, and listening to Big Band music and gospel quartets.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents William D. Wrought Sr. and Edna (Schmit), his sister Mary (Wrought) O’Brien, his brother Donald Wrought, his in-laws Rev. R. Marshall Bezanson and Elsie (Pierce) Bezanson, and his daughter Catherine (Cathy) Bergstrom. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Bambe) Wrought, née Bezanson; daughters Susan (Sue) LaRocca and Christine Taher; son Stephen William Wrought; sons-in-law Vincent LaRocca, Rashed Taher, and Niels Bergstrom; grandchildren Shawn, Kyle, and Brandon Gustafson, Noah, Isaac, and Aaron Taher, Madeline, Samantha, and Caroline Bergstrom, Antonina, Kit, and Morgan LaRocca; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Faith Read (Rod); and brother-in-law Rev. Ray Bezanson (Jan).
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, comforted by the knowledge that he is now at peace, awaiting the return of his Lord and Savior.
