William David Townsend

William David Townsend, 70, of Zachariah, Kentucky, husband of Carla Lynn Townsend, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson. Born on December 7, 1955, in Campton, Kentucky, to the late George William and Sarah Vivian Wilburn Townsend, David spent his working life first in the oil fields and later as a dedicated truck driver, hauling coal, cattle, chemicals, and oil. Known on the road as “Chopperman,” he found joy in hunting, watching NASCAR, and riding his Harley.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carla Townsend; his son, Terance Devin Townsend; and his sister, Jeanna Lee Townsend. David was laid to rest in Stonegate Cemetery, remembered fondly by family and friends for his steady presence and love of the outdoors and the open road.
