William Curtis Jones, 67, of Austin, Texas, passed away on March 12, 2026. Born on September 28, 1958, in Port Arthur, Texas, to William Ennis Jones and Jean Ann Davis Jones, Curtis grew up in Port Arthur and later lived for many years in the Houston area before moving to the Austin area in 2021.
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Class of 1977, he earned a master’s degree and was continuing his studies at the University of Arizona at the time of his passing. Curtis spent his career in the oil and gas industry as a Project Control Manager, where his meticulous attention to detail and strong leadership earned him the respect of colleagues.
Beyond his work, Curtis was deeply devoted to genealogy, dedicating many hours to researching and preserving his family’s history. He also followed world politics, attended services at Axiom Church, and remained a passionate sports fan, loyally supporting the Dodgers, Texas Longhorns, Baylor Bears, and Houston Texans. He enjoyed sharing his love of baseball and football with those closest to him.
He is survived by his son, Andrew Jones; his mother, Jean Ann Jones; sisters Beth Harlan (Dennis), Tammy Parker (Joel), and Kim Viator; nieces Kayla Viator, Lauren Sanders (Jason), and Sarah Tatum; nephew Jace Parker; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and his beloved Springer Spaniel, Lady. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, William Ennis Jones.
