William C. Pickett

Dr. William C. Pickett, known affectionately as Bill, of Bel Air, Maryland, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Baltimore on March 24, 1943, he was the son of the late Leonard Charles and Alice Thompson Pickett.

A Harford County native, Bill graduated from Bel Air High School in 1961, where he excelled in football, basketball, and baseball, including playing on the 1959 undefeated football team coached by Al Cesky. He went on to graduate from Gettysburg College in 1965 as a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After college, he taught history at North Harford High School and Bel Air High School before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. He attended Officer Candidate School and served at Fort Benning, Georgia. In 1974, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He worked alongside Maryland Senator William S. James to help pass legislation that expanded licensure opportunities for chiropractors in Maryland, allowing graduates from all certified colleges to apply. For thirty-nine years, he practiced chiropractic care in Bel Air, where his patients became his many friends.

Bill’s life centered on his deep love for family, friends, and sports. Though he had never played soccer, he volunteered as a coach and commissioner of the Bel Air Boys Soccer program. He was known for his humor, warm laughter, and enduring smile, which he shared generously with those he held dear.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly sixty years, Katherine “Kitty” Endslow Pickett; sons Gregory Charles Pickett and Geoffrey Joseph Pickett and his wife Diane Volpe Pickett; grandchildren Evan A. Pickett and Allie M. Pickett; sister Sara Pickett Henry; and his nieces and nephews.
