William Arthur Wilson

1956 — 2026

Ridgeway, VA

William A. Wilson, known affectionately as “Uncle Bill,” of Ridgeway, Virginia, and Palm Coast, Florida, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 70. A proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation, Bill was born on February 24, 1956, in Virginia. He earned a degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and enjoyed a long career as a Supply Chain Consultant before retiring to spend more time with the people and places he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Raymond Wilson, Sr. and Lorraine Smith Wilson, and his brother, John Raymond Wilson, Jr. Bill is survived by his brothers Jim Wilson (Pam) of Clayton, North Carolina, and Tommy Wilson (Sherry) of Ridgeway, Virginia, as well as his sister Susie Pontiff Stringer (Terry) of St. Augustine, Florida. He also leaves behind eight nieces and nephews, eleven great-nieces and nephews, and one great-grandnephew, all of whom adored him.

Those who knew Bill will remember his warmth, quick humor, and remarkable ability to connect with anyone. He never met a stranger and greeted the world with a smile, a story, or a joke. Holidays with Bill were filled with laughter and surprise, as his wrapped gifts often contained something delightfully unexpected. He cherished the beach, finding peace in the sun, breeze, and waves, and shared a special bond with his great-nephew Barton, spending countless hours in the ocean and by the pool engaged in conversations only they understood.

Bill served as the family’s unofficial weatherman and newscaster, sending daily updates and keeping everyone connected through his messages. Whether walking through downtown St. Augustine or gathered with loved ones, he had a gift for saying something hilarious that turned heads and sparked laughter. His spirit, humor, and generous heart brought light to everyday moments and closeness to every family gathering. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. From Barton and the entire family—Ring the Bell, Bill.
