William Wall ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Anniston Memorial Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.William (Bill) Alfred Wall, Jr., 100, of Anniston, Alabama passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, and went to be with his Lord and Savior.Bill was born in his home in Tuscumbia, Alabama to the late Christine Powell Wall and William Alfred Wall, Sr. on April 29, 1925. After graduating from Deshler High School in 1943 where he played in the Deshler HS band, he proudly served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, training as a flight mechanic on the B17. Upon his honorable discharge from his military service in 1946, he enrolled in electrical engineering at the University of Tennessee where he met and married his loving wife, Marie Foutch Wall, and enjoyed playing the trumpet in the UT Band. Upon graduation, he lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, working for KUB and TVA before moving to Huntsville, Alabama in 1959. He worked for NASA until 1983, when he retired as head of the Research and Development Lab where he received numerous patents for his work. Bill took pride in his years at NASA, working on the Shuttle engine and the Space Lab. After the death of Marie after 49 years of marriage, he married Ann Jeanette Bartee in 1997 and remained married to her until her death in 2022, having moved to Foley, Alabama in 2017. He subsequently moved and lived in Anniston, Alabama in 2022 until his death. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church of Anniston.His greatest joy in life was his family, spending days at Lake Guntersville on the water, coaching baseball for his son's teams, playing bridge with friends, faithfully attending church every Sunday, researching family lineages and rooting for his beloved Vols.Bill is survived by son, Dr. William Alfred Wall, III (Jennie) of Anniston, Alabama, daughter Frances Wall Wilkinson (Steve), of Gallion, Alabama, seven grandchildren, Lydia Wilkinson Wright (Zachary) of Virginia, Christopher Michael Wilkinson of Colorado, William A. Wall, IV (Rachel) of Colorado, Jordan Christian Wall (Christina) of Washington, Laura Wall Quintanilla (Jeffrey) of California, Rebekah Wall Monterola (Dennys) of New York and David Brummel Wall (Starz) of California, and a host of nieces, nephews , cousins and their families.A military graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Tuscumbia, Alabama on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Grant Carroll officiating. The family will greet friends and family following the service.Pallbearers will be Mark Cooper, Peck Mallory, Louis Morrow, Chris Wilkinson, Steve Wilkinson, and Zachary Wright.Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, Anniston, Alabama in Bill's memory.
