Adams, MA
William Alfred Cote, 85, of Adams, Massachusetts, passed away on March 10, 2026, at Berkshire Medical Center. Born on March 11, 1940, in North Adams, he was the son of Albanie Benjamin Cote and Doris (LeSage) Cote. A graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School class of 1958, Bill served in the United States Army before devoting more than 25 years to his career as a land surveyor for Berkshire County.
A lifelong communicant of St. John Paul II Parish, Bill found great joy in coaching the Gary Superneau Youth Bowling League and in his memberships with the Elks (BPOE) and the Greylock Community Club. An avid bowler and golfer, he was a longtime member of the former North Adams Country Club and Forest Park Country Club. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Rose (Segala) Cote, whom he married on September 21, 1963; his daughter, Michele (Richard) Wojtkowski of Richmond, Massachusetts; and his sons, Steven W. (Sandra) Cote of Conway, South Carolina, and Peter L. (Ashley) Cote of North Adams. He also leaves seven grandchildren—Kelsey Richards, Tyler Cote, Ryan Cote, Megan Hillard, Riley Cote, Chase Wojtkowski, and Cotey Wojtkowski Hansson—and five great-grandchildren: Haven Raine Hillard, River Hillard, Kylie Hillard, Karsen Hillard, and James Richards. He is further survived by his brother, Paul Cote of North Adams, his sister, Nancy Crouse of Cheshire, Massachusetts, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Cote.
