Bill was a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His life-long support of teen youth, often through outdoor activities, promoted their growth and success. Bill worked for Gulf Oil, Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance, and was co-owner of a counseling center.A Life Well-Lived:The first son of Willem and Maria Spoor, Bill was born on January 18, 1930 in Amsterdam, Holland. After high school in Tampa Florida, he attended Ohio State University and Heidelberg College earning a B.S. degre in Business. Bill was an Air Force combat veteran of the Korean War. After a previous marriage of two years, on January 18, 1975, Bill married Jeane Spoor whom he met in a bible study at her church. They were married for 49 years.Bill was a very supportive spouse, following Jeane's pathway within the United Church of Christ ministry. Bill and Jeane lived in Columbus, Ohio; Wichita, Kansas; and Fort Wayne, Indiana until their retirement. In retirement they lived on Daniel Island near Charleston, South Carolina and ,most recently, Jacksonville, Florida.Bill was very service oriented. In addition to being a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Lions Club, V.F.W., and Sertoma Club, he was a leader of many church youth camps, Explorer Troop of BSA, and local community centers.In addition to photography, Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He viewed camping, hiking, swimming, canoeing, skiing, and biking as vehicles to help youth develop into responsible adults.Bill was predeceased by his parents, two sisters, Maria Catharina Bollerup and Alexandra Wepster, and one brother Jacob Spoor. His wife, Jeane, passed away in 2024. He is survived by his brother, John Spoor; sons, Gary (Kathy) Cloud and Mark (Suzie) Cloud. Bill was the grandfather of five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.Remembering Bill:We invite you to sign the guestbook and include your favorite memories, photos, and stories of Bill.
