Wilfred John Lanthier

Wilfred John Lanthier, born October 4, 1931, passed away on March 6, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents, Wilfred Lanthier and Gladys (Hunkins) Lanthier, his wife of 70 years, Naoma Lanthier (Stevens), his son Wayne R. Lanthier, his brothers George, Donald, and Robert Lanthier, and his son-in-law Chip Perham, John is survived by his sons John (Becky) Lanthier of Ankeny, Iowa, and Alan (Lily) Lanthier of Hernando, Florida, and his daughter Loretta Perham of Tupper Lake, New York. He is also survived by his sisters Elenor, Rita, Linda, and Sue, his brother Isidore, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many other family members.

Raised on a dairy farm in the Tupper Lake area, John was known throughout his life for his strong work ethic. Over the years he worked at the Altamont Ice Cream Company for 15 years, served as a school bus driver for more than 25 years in the local school system, sold Christmas trees for 40 years, and operated a light trucking business for over 30 years while taking on various other jobs.

He will be remembered for his warm smile, his consistently positive attitude, and his wonderful sense of humor. John was deeply loved by his family and friends, who will miss him greatly. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the family’s discretion.
