Wilburn Jack Powell, age 78, of Bimble, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home. Born on December 20, 1947, in Knox County, he was the son of Coleman Jack Powell and Mary Payne Powell.
Jack was a man of deep faith and a longtime member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. After retiring from the Chrysler Corporation following thirty years of service, he returned to Kentucky, where he served as a deputy sheriff in Knox County for several years. Since 1997, he had been a dedicated employee of Hampton Funeral Home. He was also the former owner of the Chevron Gas Station in Barbourville. Jack had a passion for antique cars, frequently attending car shows and restoring vehicles to add to his collection. He cherished time spent with others and was known for his warm sense of humor and love of a good laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coleman and Mary Powell, his wife Bonnie Powell, and his brother Bobby Powell.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Tiffany Pawlak, and her husband, Dr. Dustin J. Pawlak, and his grandchildren, Addison and Dalton Pawlak, all of Georgia. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Melinda Hobbs of Bimble, her daughter Tiffany Collins and husband Cody, and their children Harlee and Raylyn Collins of Bryant Store, as well as his close friends at Dairy Queen, his funeral home family, and his dear friends E.G. and Vickie Abner. He will be remembered fondly by all the friends who visited him during his illness.
