Wilbur J. Taylor

Wilbur J. Taylor

Joliet, IL

Wilbur J. Taylor, affectionately known to many as Elvis, Michael Jackson, Bruce Lee, and Richard Pryor because of his love for old-school comedy and legendary entertainers, was born on November 12, 1958, in Joliet, Illinois, to Lois Olgree Peete. The second of nine children, he was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Wilbur confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. A man of many talents and boundless energy, he attended Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, Illinois, and later Prairie State College, where he explored his passions for theater, drama, acting, and comedy. He delighted in entertaining others, performing memorable dance impersonations of Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson, while also embracing martial arts in admiration of Bruce Lee and cherishing the sharp wit of Richard Pryor. A devoted Chicago Blackhawks fan, he brought laughter and warmth to every gathering.

For 22 years, Wilbur served as a Certified Nursing Assistant, working at Deerbrook Nursing Home, Glenwood Nursing Home, and Joliet Terrace Nursing Home. Known for his compassion and dedication, he cared for others with genuine kindness until his retirement.

Preceded in death by his mother and three brothers, Wilbur entered eternal rest on February 27, 2026, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved daughter and the love of his life, Tiffany “Tiff” Taylor of Joliet, Illinois; one sister, Gail Cheloris Peete of Matteson, Illinois; four brothers, Darryl Taylor, Jerome (Andrea) Peete, James Lewis, and Julius Lewis, all of Joliet; four close cousins, Ronald, Betty, Reggie, Renee, and Randy Halford of Chicago; close family friends Gail Lewis and Mary Helen Lewis of Chicago Heights; his aunt, Charlene of Rockford; his cousin Steve Halford of Texas; a special friend, Brother Mike; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. He will be remembered for his joyful spirit, humor, love of entertainment, and the warmth he shared so freely.
