Carter's Funeral Home - Northside on Feb. 28, 2026.Whitiney Alexandria Sparks, age 36, transitioned on Friday, February 27, 2026 after an ongoing battle with cancer.Despite doctors' prognosis, Whitiney was a fighter with a strong will to live. She outlived and beat the odds of her condition. Whitiney's will to live was powered by her love for her children and loved ones.Whitiney is a person of humanity, remembered for her kindness, compassion, and desire to help others. She was a nature lover and when not outside a homebody. She frequently spent time outside tending to her plants, doing yoga, and getting some sunshine on the balcony with her cats! She loved to listen to her vinyl record collection, drawing, listening to her E-books, and hanging out with her girlfriends. Whitiney looked forward to the day where she'd be in remission, supporting other women along their breast cancer journey.Whitiney loved her children, Jayden and Gia'Vonnie. In her most recent, memorable moments, she was so proud to be with Jayden while taking his Senior pictures and so excited to see photos of Gia'Vonnie's artwork at her most recent showcase. She always talked about how she wanted to watch her children grow old and always imagined her future as a grandmother with a house and a garden.Preceded in Whitiney's passing is her mother, Deborah Anita Sims- Sparks; uncle, Charles Sparks; grandfather, Junior Sparks; aunt, Gwendolyn Ansley; aunt, Kathy Russell; and grandmother, Ethel A. Sims-Gallagher. Whitiney leaves behind her partner, Takara Story; son, Jayden Sparks; daughter, Gia'Vonnie Sparks; father, Dewayne Sparks Sr. (Rhonda); siblings, Jamica, Tianna, Dewayne Jr. and Deonna; grandfather, James C. Sims (Ms. Voncille Allen); grandmother, Winnie Sparks; godmother, Petrice Stephens-Felder; godson, Jermaine Boykin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.Sarah L.
