Known affectionately as "Kent" to those who loved him, he leaves behind a legacy of creativity, storytelling, and deep devotion to family.Kent was born on January 3, 1957, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Billy Joe Brown and Monna Jo Barnett. He was raised in Tecumseh, where he developed a lifelong love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. Hunting, fishing, and woodworking were among his favorite pastimes, reflecting both his patience and appreciation for nature.A proud veteran of the United States Army, Kent served his country honorably before embarking on a life filled with adventure and hard work. He spent time traveling across the country as a truck driver, often sharing cherished stories of his experiences in places like Germany, Alaska, Colorado, and New Mexico. Later, he dedicated many years as a heavy equipment operator for Dolese Brothers and Pottawatomie County.Kent had a true passion for music. He could often be found playing his guitar or banjo, singing old country and gospel songs, and spending hours perfecting his craft. His creativity extended beyond music-he was a talented sketch artist and woodcarver, often bringing his own designs to life through his detailed carvings.In 1975, Kent married Becky Napier of Texas, and together they had two children, Christopher Kent Brown and Misty Marie Brown. Though their marriage later ended, they remained lifelong friends. In 1994, he married Chrystal Stroud of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, and they welcomed a son, Dakota Steven Brown.Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe Brown and Monna Jo Barnett; his brothers, David Phillip and Wesley Andrew Brown; his former spouse, Becky (Napier) Brown; and his beloved grandson, Blake Phillips.He is survived by his children, Christopher Brown, Misty Brown, and Dakota Brown; his siblings, Paul Brown, Ronda, Paula, and Vickie; his former spouse, Chrystal Brown; his grandchildren, Braiden, Hailey, Hope, and Tali; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him.Kent will be remembered for his kind heart, his storytelling, his music, and the way he brought his ideas to life through both sound and craftsmanship. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the love he shared.A small graveside service for family will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Brown Family Cemetery in Pink, Oklahoma, with Pastor Jerry Kuhn, Home Church Tecumseh, officiating. under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
