Wendell Glenn Henderly
December 21, 1930— March 12, 2026
Amanda, OH
Wendell Glenn Henderly, age 95, of Amanda, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Pickering House in Lancaster, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 21, 1930, in Fairfield County to Burl and Alice (Solt) Henderly, he graduated from Amanda High School in 1948. In 2025, he was honored as the oldest surviving graduate of his alma mater.
Wendell began his career as a farmer before joining DuPont in Circleville, where he worked as an electrical foreman and retired after nearly 30 years of service. A lifelong and active member of the Presbyterian Church in Amanda, he served as an Elder for many years. He was also a dedicated member and Past Master of the Amanda Masonic Lodge, F. & A.M. #509, where he was recently recognized for 60 years of service. Those closest to him knew of his quieter passions as a semi-professional shuffleboard player and a moonlight shrimper, pursuits he enjoyed while he and his wife Hazel spent nearly 50 winters in Florida. Above all, Wendell was a devoted husband and a great father.
He is survived by his children, Rita (Bill) Francis of Amanda, Margaret (Mike) Thomas of Beattyville, Kentucky, and Max E. (Billye) Henderly of Sautee Naccoochee, Georgia; grandchildren Malinda (Larry) Sullivan, Angie (Craig) Bolin, Wendy (Tom) Booth, Mark (Megan) Francis, and Stuart (Derek) Henderly; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel M. (Sterling) Henderly, and his brothers, John and Boyd Henderly.
