He was predeceased by: his parents, Hermon Carpenter and Illa Carpenter (Burnett); his former wife Beverly; and his sister Virginia Osborne of Longview, Texas.. He is survived by: his wife Lynda Carpenter (Wilhelmus); his daughter Kimberly Shelton (Pat) of Gainesville, VA.; his granddaughter Ashley Murphy (Gerald) of Woodbridge, VA; his great grandchildren, Daxton and Bexley; his grandson Drew Shelton (Cassandra) of Rocky Mount, VA; his great grandchildren, Turner and Henry; his stepdaughter Alyson Anderson of New Albany, IN.; his stepgrandchildren, Hunter Anderson (Leah) of Sellersburg, IN and Hadley Anderson of New Albany, IN; his sisters-in-law, Jane Hoff (Duey) of Rockford, IL and Susan Swain (Robert) of Arlington, Texas.; Chesson, Palmer, Shephard, Chandler and Savannah. He is also survived by Many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Boone Funeral Home (5330 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47715). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
