January 3, 1949— March 11, 2026
Ponca City, OK
Wayne Lee Cranford, 77, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on March 11, 2026. Born on January 3, 1949, in Ponca City to Glen and Katherine (Montgomery) Cranford, Wayne graduated from Ponca City High School in 1967 and attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. He began working for the City of Ponca City in the power plant while still in high school and later enjoyed a long career with OG&E at the Sooner Station until his retirement. He also served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975.
Wayne found quiet joy in tending his yard and caring for his flowers. He was an avid fan of classic western television shows, particularly Gunsmoke. Above all, he was a devoted husband and father who worked hard to give his family the best life possible. Known for his willingness to help anyone in need without expecting anything in return, Wayne cherished sitting and visiting with family and friends, sharing stories about anything and everything.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Cranford; his son, Darrin Cranford and wife Suzette; his grandchildren, Britny Cranford, Drew Cranford and wife Sabrina, Makaly Cranford, Cameron Cranford and wife Faith, Carly Cranford, and Cooper Cranford; and his great-grandson, Gunner Horne. Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Dustin Cranford; his parents, Glen and Katherine Cranford; his in-laws, Grover and Florence Kelly; and his sisters, Patsy Willerton, Glenda Jones, Delores Simmons, Connie Green, and Donna Newlin.
